Originally a New Yorker, I received my medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University in New York City, and completed my residency training in Psychiatry at Yale University. After 5 years on the clinical faculty at Yale, I moved to St Louis, Missouri as a faculty member in Psychiatry at Washington University, and pursued Psychoanalytic training at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. I began in private practice in 1996 and have been selected by my peers as one of the “Best Doctors in America” for 20 straight years.

Subsequently I trained and have certification in mindfulness and meditation in psychotherapy.

I treat patients with a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses including (but not limited to) anxiety and depressive disorders, personality difficulties, trauma (and its consequences), eating disorders, problems with attention, grief and loss, and women’s issues. My work often focuses on issues of relationships and the development of authentic identity throughout life’s transitions.

I have recently moved to the Bay Area, and I am delighted to be in private practice once again, located in downtown Burlingame. I also have the great pleasure of holding an adjunct clinical faculty position at the San Mateo County psychiatric residency program.
